There is just so much of information available especially online today that it is quite hard to distinguish the right from the wrong. So many false theories on weight loss, scams, rip offs, magic diet pills, fraudulent weight loss programs that it is easy to fall prey to them if you are not careful.
In this article, I will talk through some weight-loss myths. Though there are way too many weight-loss myths, I will touch upon 5 of them.
1. You should always have Breakfast Immediately After Waking Up: You don't have to, experts recommend that it is better to have your first meal within 3 hours of waking. Skipping breakfast should be avoided because you will only overeat in the next meal.
2. Have 5 or 6 meals instead of 3 meals: Now there is a merit for having 5 or 6 smaller meals because you are less likely to overeat. But what ultimately counts is the total number of calories that you consume at the end of the day.
3. Carbohydrates should be avoided because they make you fat: You have to have carbohydrates in your diet and make sure that you consume them in moderation. Remember it is the calories that make you fat not the carbohydrates. Since most of the carbs are unprocessed you don't feel full by consuming them which is not the case with unprocessed carbs.
4. Dieting is irrelevant if you exercise: Exercising alone cannot help you lose weight. You have to follow a good diet and proper exercise to shed those extra pounds. Having whatever diet you like after exercising is like pressing on the gas with your other foot on the brake. It just won't work.
5. Avoid Desserts: Too often people completely deprive themselves of the foods that they like and they go on for some time till they can no longer resist and eventually consume everything that they like from left, right and center. Eat your desserts in small portions and by doing that you are still having what you like in limited measures.
